Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) – English Review

A terrorist group attacks a military camp in India, and now India is seeking revenge. They are planning to send a group of soldiers to Kashmir to kill terrorists who they believe were behind the attack. But they don’t want Pakistan to know about this planned attack.

I’ve never seen a pure action movie from India before, so I didn’t know what to expect. But I liked the movie. The cinematography is top-notch. And the few action sequences we see took me back to Zero Dark Thirty, and I liked the actor who plays the protagonist.

The movie is based on true events, that’s all I know. I know that India and Pakistan are not best friends. So they have created some ridiculous characters representing Pakistan. Especially the guy with the ugly beard who becomes the movie’s clown. Go India!

One can divide the movie into three acts, with the first act and the third act being the best. In the second act, you notice a bit of the long runtime. The pace slows down when the Indians try to pick out the soldiers that will take part in the mission.

The characters we get to know are not deep characters. But you understand why the protagonist wants revenge after something bad happens to his best friend.

Uri: The Surgical Strike is an entertaining action movie that becomes somewhat predictable towards the end when the protagonist promises that no soldiers in his group will die. The action sequences are good, and the cinematography is excellent. So this is a movie worth watching if you liked Zero Dark Thirty, but it’s not as good as Zero Dark Thirty. That was a really good movie. If you haven’t seen it, watch it. Watch it now!
