Home for Rent (2023) – English Review

Strange things start happening when a woman rents out a house to a mother and daughter who are creepy. Are they devil worshippers?

This is a mess of a movie that turns into a stupid Hollywood production towards the end. We follow a family of three, and they have a spare house that they rent out to a mother and daughter. It doesn’t take long before mysterious things start happening: a person goes missing, a dog gets killed, a lot of ravens appear, and the husband is acting weird. The only one who can solve the mystery is a hot woman, and she tries to protect her daughter. But what is she protecting her daughter from?

The first half of the movie is decent, but after that, it all goes downhill, and the movie steps on a landmine when it’s time to wrap up the generic story. The present it gives us is diarrhea! It’s a stupid Hollywood ending with too much going on. The movie drags out a whole family of rabbits out of the magician’s hat.

I hated the old hag who was supposed to be scary. Her character is poorly written, and we are left with some big questions. Is she a member of the X-Men? That is the biggest question. She must be a mutant and an irritating one. She’s like a mosquito you never manage to get rid of, and I hate characters like her who are not scary. But the movie forces her down our throats, expecting us to respect and fear this old hag. Well, I did not!

The husband in the house is a bloody moron! He is boring, carries a secret, and can’t even take care of a woman in a fight. Can he be a real man? He is useless but somewhat of an important character.

It’s difficult not to reveal anything about the plot in this movie, just so you know. But this is a movie that offers several stupid twists, and there are things here toward the end that left me scratching my sore head. The director loses control over the ship in the last 20 minutes, and the movie never explains much. I am white, you know! But we all know that the Thais love the spiritual world and ghosts, and I’ll leave it with that.
