A reporter must stop the deadly curse of Sadako, or else he will die. He has seven days to find the answer to the puzzle; if not, he will die! He should never have watched the cursed video. They never learn. They will all die!
“Ring” is the first movie in the Ring series that was made for TV. “Ring” (1998) is one of my favorite movies of all time, and this version won’t change that.
What surprised me the most was the nudity in this movie and man, Sadako has some fine watermelons! It’s so bizarre to see Sadako naked, and she isn’t that creepy character with the long hair in front of her face, nightgown, and that creepy, sexy bloodshot eye! She is a crazy woman, not a scary woman. And she carries a dark secret; she loves old fathers. She is a naughty one, this watermelon woman.
The acting is really bad with wooden dialogue delivery. The characters are poorly written, and the actors should have taken some extra acting lessons or never acted at all. They ruin every scene. The only one who is mediocre is the actor playing the protagonist.
The death scenes will make you laugh, and there’s not much tension here like in “Ring” (1998). Both movies follow each other closely for the most part, so the scenes you find suspenseful and scary in “Ring” (1998) never work in this movie since the cheesiness is strong in the 1995 version. The legendary Sadako scene towards the end of “Ring” (1998) is butchered except for that Sadako is naked. It’s a strange scene, I tell you! I almost had to go to the bathroom, for Christ’s sake!
There’s no reason to watch the movie if you aren’t curious about the first Ring movie. It’s a movie for people who can’t get enough of Sadako, and the only thing it has going for it is a naked Sadako that will make you crave for big watermelons. But a suspenseful movie, “Ring” is not. It’s impossible with these actors and the goofy Sadako.
