Mondays: See You ‘This’ Week! (2022) – English Review

A woman and her colleagues are trapped in a time loop where they work hard every week, and then the work week repeats every Monday. Now they have to cooperate and come up with a plan to break the time loop. And the answer lies in the past.

“Mondays: See You ‘This’ Week!” isn’t an entertaining time-loop movie. The characters are dry and anonymous, and the movie isn’t funny at all.

The protagonist is looking for a new job, and she is a selfish character who looks down on her colleagues, whom she deems to have no ambition in life. She is that kind of dragon woman. She’s not likable, so you hope she will be stuck in the time loop forever. Her boss is a kind man whom not many respect since he’s too kind.

The plot takes place inside the office where the characters are trying to convince the other colleagues that they are stuck in a time loop. So we see the same scenes over and over again when one colleague after the other gets a wake-up call when they discover that they are trapped in a time loop. It’s not engaging since the characters are grey and lifeless! They have no freaking souls!

The answer to the time loop isn’t that interesting either. It could have worked, but the character that is the key to breaking the time loop is, surprise, uninteresting, and dry. The characters are so gray. Who are they? Why should we care about them and their lives? Tell me! Well, the movie doesn’t give any answer to that since it doesn’t have much to tell us. It tries to create some warmth and coziness in the last 25 minutes, but that is as dry as the characters.
