A demon child has only three years to live, and his parents are trying everything possible to pretend that he is a good person. However, the villagers do not like him. They are afraid of him. Then, one day, he meets his new and only friend on the beach, and they have something in common. But someone in the shadows wants the new best friends to fight a battle of life and death.
I am not going to spend time explaining the story of this movie. Just read about it on Wikipedia. So, this is a Chinese animated movie where we follow the demon child, who is a sadistic and ugly child. The villagers hate him, while his parents try to protect him and love him.
I enjoyed Ne Zha. I did not expect that much, but the demon child is so fun to follow. He is indeed a demon child, and I guarantee he will put a smile on your sad face when he terrorizes people and monsters. His fight against the ugly Shrek monster was fun, and the scene when the demon child drinks the monster’s snot was disgusting!
The animation is decent, but nothing more than that. Some scenes look really good, but the characters look pretty cheap. So, the animation is all over the place. My biggest problem is that the animation feels lifeless, but that is a problem that many computer-animated movies have.
The story is interesting, but I never liked the scenes with the dragon and the good guy. The good guy never gets enough screen time, so even though he is an important character, this is, for the most part, the demon child’s journey to find himself and maybe survive his death curse.
Ne Zha made me smile when the movie focused on the demon child and his mischief. He is adorable, and you feel sad for his parents since they are good people and they care about their demon child. He was not supposed to be a demon child; he was supposed to be someone else. But an evil man had other plans, so you hope everything will turn out right for the parents and their demon child.
Watched it today. It was cool.
