A woman falls in love with a punk man who has a split tongue. She dreams of getting a split tongue too, but first, she needs to get a tongue piercing. Her new boyfriend has a friend who runs a tattoo and piercing studio, and when they meet for the first time, there is a spark in the room. They are both kinky, but the woman is depressed and a little lost. The scary owner of the tattoo studio tells her that he wants to kill her, which makes things bizarre! The owner of the tattoo studio and the punk man is scary, and they scare people away, which makes them attractive in the woman’s eyes. She loves bad boys!
Snakes and Earrings is a movie based on a novel I had never heard of before. However, the movie is not that good. After watching it, I read about the novel, and then I realized that the topics the novel concentrates on are topics I did not pick up on while watching the movie. I never felt that this was a deep movie.
What I picked up on is that the woman is depressed, lazy, and lost. The characters in the movie do not have much of a backstory. The tattoo guy is a weird and disturbed character who likes the dark art of sex, and I think he must be a fan of Ted Bundy. The woman’s boyfriend has problems controlling his anger, but he treats her well. The woman is depressed and lost, and she is not a likable character. She is also a drunk and hits a downward spiral, and I ended up hating her.
The big highlight for me was watching the worst actor in the world, with the worst hairstyle in the world, Tatsuya Fujiwara, getting what he deserves after tormenting me for so many years. I was afraid that this talentless actor would play a big part in this movie, but no. Even if I am not a religious person, I thank God for that! I also loved what happened to him. Pain! I hope you felt a lot of pain! You are an awful actor! Like the worst one ever!
Oh, I almost forgot. I can’t forget my fellow perverts. The sex scenes are boring, almost laughable because of the protagonist’s behavior and the bad acting. The actress is not great when she tries to be upset. In several scenes, I thought she was laughing, but it turns out that she is crying! And she does that a lot! But the sex scenes are not sexy; they are boring and very repetitive. Get the belt and be done with it! Boring fish!
At least the two actors who play her love interests are good. You can tell that they are decent actors, but I cannot say the same thing about Yuriko Yoshitaka. Maybe she has gotten better over the years as an actor. I hope so. It is not cool when you cannot tell if she is crying or laughing!
I was not a big fan of this movie. It is a slow movie with an annoying protagonist, and I never felt that the two men in her life got a chance to spread out their wings. The universe is tiny, and there is not much going on here except for following this depressed and annoying woman who loves to drink too much alcohol and wait for her snake tongue to come alive. Fear the freaks! Fear the outcasts!
