Money or a friend?
A man is out on a treasure hunt, and he’s at the same time on the run as he has some bad men after him. He owes them money when he lost a bet. He hides on a small boat, but he’s not welcome on the boat. But he convinces the captain to join him on the treasure hunt. They end up on a small island where there are some strange natives and a Japanese man who has not realized that the war is over. Will they find the treasure?
Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. I remember watching the movie with a friend when I was very young. Together with First Blood and Krull, it was Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure that got me interested in movies.
This is one of the best movies with the super duo, Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. It offers fantastic slapstick comedy with charming humor you will love if you appreciate innocent humor.
Where else will you find pirates dressed as sadomasochists who have taken the trip from the gay bar in Police Academy, The Blue Oyster Bar, to a small island in no-man’s-land? And of course, one of them has a long whip, and another a spanking paddle. These are pirates you don’t mess around with! They will give you a hard spanking. They will whip you, and then they will try to do something you won’t appreciate! So put a cork in your anus and run! RUN!
Unfortunately, the Japanese soldier represents reality. It’s bizarre but sad to read about Japanese soldiers who, many years after World War II, still believed that Japan was at war. There are probably some of these soldiers left out there that they haven’t found. As we all know, the Japanese live a long life!
The movie takes some time to get started, but when it does, I guarantee you will smile. Because there’s no one I know of who can match the chemistry and the wild energy when Bud Spencer and Terence Hill are starring in the same movie. If you like silly Jackie Chan movies, it feels like you are watching his source of inspiration when watching Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. It would have been so much fun to see these three in the same movie in the eighties.
Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure is the best movie Bud Spencer and Terence Hill starred in as a duo. It’s a movie full of slapstick humor that spreads joy and laughter. It’s a stupid and crazy movie.
