Two long-distance runners who have messed up a bit with the sport they love so much are trying to qualify for a big race. They need ten people because they run as a team. Together they will try to fulfill their goals and dreams.
Feel the Wind is a warm and enjoyable movie, but it has a problem which is the weak characters. The character depth is almost absent, the characters are written in a very simple way. Only a few of them have human traits, while 80% of the remaining characters are one-dimensional characters that feel like robots. Many of them behave and feel like anime characters.
There is a lot of running, and then I mean a lot of running! But it never gets exciting as there are never any major conflicts in the movie between the different teams. All of them are mostly nice to each other, so the rivalry is mostly nonexistent.
We also witness the slowest 100 meters I have experienced in my life, when one of the central characters, who’s injured, has decided to finish the race. He probably spends five minutes crossing the finish line when there are about 100 meters left of the race. What a terrible scene! And the movie doesn’t save on the use of slow-motion and a heroic score when he tries to cross the finish line. Will he cross the finish line, or will he poop in his shorts and fart his last fart and never cross the finish line? That’s the big question. May you fart in peace, you dirty man!
What the movie offers is a lot of running, some personal drama, and a lot of running. But the characters are badly written, so I didn’t care if they fulfilled their dreams or not.
