Signs 2?
A young woman who lives alone receives a visit from an alien, and she soon realizes she’s not alone. Aliens are about to take over the town she lives in, but no one cares if she is alive since the whole town hates her. Why does everyone hate her? And will we also hate her when we get the answer to this question?
“No One Will Save You” is an intriguing movie where the protagonist never utters a single word. There is almost no dialogue in the movie. It’s the score and the visuals that are in the driver’s seat. The story is almost nonexistent. This is a movie with almost no substance.
Regarding the protagonist’s past, as a viewer, you are allowed to guess what’s really going on with the protagonist and her past. My theory was that she had become insane and that the aliens were the people at the psychiatric hospital who tried to cure her, or that she was lying on the operating table at the hospital after an accident. Those were my theories, but yeah, I’m not going to say more than that.
I really liked the first alien encounter. You can say that “No One Will Save You” feels like “Signs 2,” if that movie had been made. But after a while, the plot repeats itself, and even though the score and visuals are great, I feel that the movie should have had a runtime of 40 minutes and that the protagonist should have died after 5 minutes.
Apart from the score and visuals, there isn’t much really happening here. You have the mystery, but the answer to the mystery is so disappointing and flat, and the movie keeps the answer to the mystery hostage for far too long. Meanwhile, the protagonist is running and hiding from the aliens for the tenth time while numerous lights are blinking and searching for her.
I didn’t like the protagonist. She seemed like a big loser, and I hoped that the aliens would catch her and kill her. I wanted them to take her ugly dancing shoes and put one of them in her mouth and the other one where the sun doesn’t shine, and then she would surely die!
The design of the aliens in the movie is also weak and generic. The CGI is also mediocre when the aliens move around. But the most disappointing thing is the generic and overused design. Why can’t they come up with a different design? It’s so lazy, and I hate lazy movies!
“No One Will Save You” is an interesting movie with the potential that never fully materializes due to the weak script and repetitive nature of the plot.
