A man who gets the chance to travel back in time plays a little with the past, which he should not have done. His mother died of an illness when he was a kid, and now he has the chance to help her. But you should never play with the past.
This is the first movie I’ve seen from Laos. It is an interesting movie with a wonderful and dark atmosphere. It is easy to follow the story in the first hour. The protagonist can travel back in time, and he does so with the help of a mysterious woman who has pursued him for decades. Who is she, and what is her story?
But then the movie lost me. I wondered if the protagonist was an evil man. Did he experience an incident that changed him as a person when he tried to help his mother? Or am I completely off? I didn’t feel that the movie gave a proper answer to that. There are things toward the end that point to the protagonist not being a good man. When he got the chance to change the past, did that change him as a person?
The Long Walk is an interesting movie that is easy to follow for an hour, but then the story changes when the protagonist has to pay the price for changing an event in the past. Although this is a calm movie, I don’t want to call it slow. A lot is going on here. You just have to pay close attention, something I thought I did. But then I fell behind, and I don’t know if that was my fault or the movie’s. I think the storytelling got a little confusing in the last half hour.
This is a movie you might want to watch twice to see if it’s possible to catch all the details. But even then, I don’t know if it helps. You may still be just as confused after a second viewing.
