We follow a family consisting of two adults and three adult children. They carry a secret that not all of the children in the family know about. But now the time has come to reveal it when the youngest daughter is in a rebellious phase.
One Day We’ll Talk About Today is a well-acted movie that’s very interesting before it reveals the big secret. I realized early on what the big secret was, it’s easy to guess. But when the answer came, I sat with mixed feelings.
The father in the family is very overprotective when it comes to his youngest daughter. He seems to forget his other two children. All three are adults, but they are controlled by their father who is hurting inside.
The mother says nothing because she is very fond of her husband and he’s not an evil man. He struggles with something that happened in the past. But he has damaged the psyche of his son, who is trained to take care and guard his two younger sisters.
You hate the father when you see how he in a way brainwashes his son into being a guard dog. He’s about to start his own life, he’s not supposed to live in the past with his father. But the father doesn’t see or understand that because he can’t let go of the past. It becomes provocative in the long run. But again, he’s not a rotten man, his soul is hurt and he can’t let go of the past.
And I couldn’t feel 100% empathy with the parents as they have three adults and healthy children who all have a promising future ahead of them. The father seems very ungrateful, which provoked me. Sure it hurts, but honestly, look at what you have! Open up your eyes!
I liked the movie. It’s well-acted, and it’s interesting to follow this family. But I was expecting something more when the big reveal came because I couldn’t quite feel empathy for the father when he and his wife have raised three kids that they should be very proud of!
