The Watchers (2024) – English Review

They like what they see, oh yeah!

A woman takes a trip into the woods with a parrot that she cares for, and she gets into trouble because she can’t leave the woods. In the woods, there are some strange creatures, and she finds shelter with three other people who are also hiding from the creatures. One of them looks like a creepy witch from hell. Will they ever manage to escape the woods, or will they become a part of it?

The Watchers is directed by the daughter of the man of mystery, M. Night Shyamalan. He decided to follow in Will Smith’s footsteps by tormenting movie lovers—this time by inspiring his daughters to act and direct movies. This is a family of fart sniffers, and I don’t like fart sniffers. Well, except for my farts and sexy women’s farts and toes. Why did I say that?

The Watchers has some atmosphere in several scenes, but my main issue with the movie is that the characters are not interesting, and I don’t care about them. That’s something you’ll also find in most of M. Night Shyamalan’s movies, so the daughter follows in her father’s footsteps in that department. In the end, the characters are poorly written.

The atmosphere is pretty good, but then you have the pretty bad CGI effects—especially in the first scenes when the creatures of the forest are introduced—and it looks like garbage. They look like something a five-year-old kid would draw, and that kid should not be allowed to draw any more pictures.

The ending and the surprise—of course, there’s a surprise when the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan directed the movie—are not surprising. It’s pretty obvious, and if you don’t see the ending coming, well, you are not that bright, are you? Stupid idiot!

Is The Watchers worth watching? No, it isn’t. It’s a movie with poorly written characters, an okay mystery, and a pretty good atmosphere in several scenes. But in the end, this feels like just a generic horror movie that never leaves its mark, and it’s a movie you’ll forget watching after a month.
