A woman is killed one night, and her clairvoyant sister is determined to find out what happened. She decides to spend a night at the house where her sister died, hoping to get some answers.
“Oddity” is a movie that took me by surprise. The opening sequence is fantastic—it’s pure horror with a lot of suspense. It begins when a man knocks on the door late at night and tells the woman he saw someone enter the house while she was outside for a moment. But can she trust this man? He seems unstable, with a scary eye, and you know you can’t trust a man with a scary eye when you’re all alone and there are no neighbors nearby.
Eventually, she is found dead, but her blind sister, who is clairvoyant, spends a night at the house where her sister died. Will she find out what happened to her sister the night she died?
If you enjoy atmospheric horror movies with a small universe of characters and great cinematography, then this is the movie for you.
Sometimes you come across an atmospheric horror movie with perfect pacing, which is exactly the case with Oddity. The pace is neither too slow nor too fast—it’s just right, perfectly balanced. The movie doesn’t rely on jump scares either, though the closest one made me jump in my seat, which rarely happens.
I hope more people will discover Oddity because it’s such a good movie, despite the last scene, which could have been better as it didn’t quite reach the climax the movie deserved. Other than that, this is a solid horror movie that succeeds in creating a fantastic, creepy atmosphere where you feel all alone with the characters.
