The Wild Goose Lake (2019) – English Review

A gangster is on the run after he killed a cop, and the police are offering a large sum of money to anyone who helps them find him. Suddenly a mysterious woman appears who says she’s on his side. But he cannot trust anyone since everyone is so greedy for money in this universe.

The Wild Goose Lake is a good and well-acted neo-noir movie that has a simple plot. The characters we meet in the movie are mostly unsympathetic. The police are just doing their job, and in the criminal underworld, you will only find sharks. So it’s a dark and cold universe we visit, and I like that.

We get little information about the protagonist’s past and where he comes from, and what he has done. But he’s a criminal, and he’s good at fighting. We see him in two fight scenes, and it’s a shame that the movie didn’t focus more on hard fight scenes! They are so good and brutal! And I will always remember the beautiful umbrella scene that has burned into my memory.

The Wild Goose Lake is a dark crime movie where the protagonist can’t trust anyone. But do we care about that? No. You get to see a tight and good crime movie that visually looks good. The movie has some fun, brief moments I will always remember.

But is this a movie for everyone? No. It’s a movie that burns slowly. But you have to keep your eyes glued to the screen because it’s easy to miss some details that are important regarding the plot. But be prepared for a cold universe and self-absorbed characters who only care about themselves.
