A young forger and his friends are going to try to steal a valuable painting so that he can get his father out of jail. But when you play with fire, you may get burned! He cannot trust anyone!
There have been so many heist movies made, and they mostly feel the same. But I really enjoyed “Stealing Raden Saleh.” Usually, we follow older characters, but in this movie, they are in their early twenties.
You can tell and feel that the group of thieves are good friends and that they care for each other. They are criminals, but you hope they will succeed with their plan despite encountering unexpected obstacles along the way. They get punched in the face several times, but they never give up.
The characters lack depth, but since they have good chemistry and you feel they are good friends, you can overlook that. In the end, however, they are thieves and nothing more. They are not good people, but they are loyal friends who back each other up.
The rest of the characters in the movie are also underdeveloped, but the movie is so entertaining and has some suspenseful scenes, so we can let that go too. I am in a good mood today!
The runtime is around 150 minutes, and although I did not notice the long duration, I feel they could have shortened the movie by 20 minutes to tighten the pace.
The movie offers comedy, romance, and some suspenseful scenes. And the actress who plays Sarah is attractive! Really attractive, I tell you!
If you like heist movies that offer a charming tone and playful characters, then you should check out this movie. It is one of the best heist movies I have seen lately, and it seems that we might get a sequel since there are a lot of loose ends. But do not expect well-written characters. The characters are pretty thin. However, the movie makes up for it by being entertaining.
