Two lonely people who haven’t found love or the right partner meet each other several times and they become curious about each other. Are these two doomed to be single for the rest of their lives?
The Tokyo Night Sky Is Always the Densest Shade of Blue is a charming and warm movie I fell in love with. We follow a woman and a man who is a bit lonely. They seem to have given up on finding a partner who they can spend the rest of their lives with.
But on several occasions, they constantly meet each other, and they become curious. They start gently as friends because they don’t believe in love. Especially the woman who lost her mother at a young age doesn’t believe in love at all. She expects the worst every single day. She talks about death all the time, she can’t focus on the little things in life that can make her smile and look forward to the next day. She only imagines catastrophes and death. The man doesn’t say much, and he has vision problems in one of his eyes. Is this relationship doomed from the beginning?
The two central actors have very good chemistry. I love the way they behave around each other. They are so cute together. The woman is very talkative when she gets nervous and uncomfortable, while the man never says much. When you look at him, it’s like watching paint dry. And even though it sounds boring, it’s very charming to follow these two characters who don’t feel like bad people. They just struggle mentally, especially the woman. They are not crazy, but they are confused.
The one who steals the show is Shizuka Ishibashi who plays the woman. She’s so charming and sweet, and I didn’t quite buy that she was single. But she struggles with mental problems, and then you can buy it, just a little.
I love movies like The Tokyo Night Sky Is Always the Densest Shade of Blue. And this movie offers a lot of what I want with peculiar characters and two good actors who have good chemistry. It’s interesting to follow these two characters. Let’s hope it will work out for them! Go fighting!
